Under the second moon

On the night Aria Vale was born human, the sky broke.

A second moon - small, blue, and silent - appeared beside the first. No wolf had ever seen it before. The elders called it a curse.

That same night, something came down from the mountain and bit seven human babies in the valley.

Six died instantly.

One lived.

Aria Vale lived with a blue crescent scar on the back of her neck that glowed whenever the second moon hid. For eighteen years she thought she was normal. Human. Weak. Unwanted.

She was wrong.
