Chapter 1
When I miscarried due to a car accident, Aidan Brown drove past my car with his Beta.
He glanced at the blood on the ground in disdain and covered Seraphina Gross’s curious eyes.
“Don’t look at this horrible sight. It’s bad luck.”
I tried to use mind-link to call him when I saw his car.
However, he did not respond to me, and his car disappeared from my sight.
That night, I saw the lipstick stain on his shirt collar and smiled bitterly.
I felt pain shoot through my heart.
I immediately understood what it meant. I called the Alpha of the Valoria pack.
“Kieran Wesley, I’ve thought it through. I’ll join your company next week.”
Chapter 1
The moment I ended the call, Aidan Brown walked into the bedroom.
I started coughing from the cigarette smoke, but he only stared at the phone with loving eyes.
In the past, I used to scold him for always forgetting his phone because I could never reach him.
As of late, he kept his phone on him at all times, so much so that he even brought his phone into the shower.
A sweet smile immediately appeared on his cold face.
“What were you talking about?”
He was still looking at his phone while talking to me. He did not even want to spare a glance at me.
I answered honestly and told him that I had agreed to Kieran Wesley’s invitation.
Aidan did not react. He only nodded.
I might even miss his subtle nod if I did not look closely.
His behavior did not surprise me.
I had already gotten used to him ignoring me.
This time, I did not put up a fight. I calmly turned on my laptop and typed out a divorce agreement.
He suddenly laughed. He picked up his jacket and prepared to leave, but he realized his usually ironed clothes were covered in wrinkles.
He finally glanced at me.
“Liora, it was just a fall, and it’s not serious. You’ll recover soon.”
I continued typing and answered coldly, “Alright.”
Aidan was right. Werewolves like us could recover very fast.
These minor injuries were practically nothing to us.
I was able to recover from the physical injuries, but what about the emotional pain from the miscarriage?
The accident had taken away my child, and it destroyed the very last bit of hope that I had toward Aidan.
When I lay on the hospital bed, I could only hear the doctor’s helpless sigh.
He said if I had been sent to the hospital just a bit earlier, my child would not have died.
Aidan sensed my estrangement as he frowned unhappily.
Just when he was about to walk over to see what was on my laptop screen, his phone buzzed.
It only took a single glance at his phone, and his displeasure was immediately gone. He went into his study in excitement.
I smiled mockingly. I used my fake account to view Aidan’s social media profile.
He had hidden the post he uploaded from me.
There was a clear bite mark on Aidan’s neck in the photo he posted.
The caption made me feel like I was the butt of the joke.
[I’m grateful that Moon Goddess sent you to me.]
I liked the post and took the divorce papers I had just printed. I then signed my name on the paper.
The next morning, Aidan purposely woke up earlier and made a commotion.
After I woke up, I looked at the carefully wrapped gift on the table. A card was attached to it.
[Thank you for always staying by my side.]
Just when I touched the ribbon, he immediately slapped my hand away.
My skin immediately turned red. Cold sweat started to form from the pain.
“This gift is not for you. Your gift is the one next to it.”
I spotted some small writing on the card. It wrote, [To my dearest.]
The gift was for Seraphina Gross.
I looked at the cheap jewelry box that was meant for me. After I opened it, I frowned when I looked at the earrings.
I then tossed them into the trash can beside me.
My actions angered Aidan. He yelled at me, “Liora, what are you doing?!”
“I don’t have any ear piercings. Don’t you know that?”
During the ten years I was with him, I had never bought or worn earrings.
Seraphina was the one who liked all such delicate jewelry.
He got up anxiously and almost flipped the table. He then kicked the trash can. “Whatever.”
After Aidan said that, he was about to leave. I walked into the bedroom and took out a bag.
“You should send this for dry-cleaning.”
Aidan rubbed his throbbing forehead when he saw the lipstick on his shirt.
He wanted to make an excuse, but he could not find any.
He looked at me. When he could not see the anger on my face, he let out a sigh of relief. “I’ll tell Seraphina to be more careful next time.”
When I did not answer him, he reluctantly said he would send me to work today.
After becoming his Luna, all our colleagues had been watching my every move.
Aidan hated to be the topic of discussion, so he never showed up with me. We always arrived separately.
He said that as an Alpha, he had to be a role model.
However, he did not know that his action made me the punchline in the others’ eyes.
Since the first day Seraphina became his Beta, they were stuck together like glue.
Chapter 2
“I have to deal with something at the office. I’ll send you to the office next time.”
However, when I appeared at the office, I felt something was wrong.
Everyone was looking at me with pity and sympathy. Some of them were looking at me mockingly.
I accidentally overheard two colleagues whispering.
“Oh my! Is Aidan going to abandon Liora?”
“Today, during the meeting, Seraphina kept touching her hair and exposing the hickeys on her neck. I can tell they’re from Aidan.”
I dropped the files that I was holding. They landed with a soft thud.
The gossiping immediately stopped.
I squatted down to pick up the files, but the papers seemed stuck to the floor. Whenever I picked them up, they would fall back onto the floor again.
I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down.
There were a lot of tasks to complete at work, and I was working until midnight.
Suddenly, I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder.
“Liora, why aren’t you replying to my text messages?”
I lowered my head and looked at the blazer Aidan had put on me. It smelled like cologne. I picked up my phone.
[What brand of perfumes do girls usually like?]
Two years ago, during the dinner when he was named the Alpha, I did my makeup and wore the most expensive gown I owned. I even bought really expensive perfume.
However, he had covered his nose and pushed me away in disgust.
“What perfume is this? This smells horrible! Get lost, don’t embarrass me!”
I saw a brand new bottle of perfume on my desk.
Aidan saw that I remained expressionless, so he was a bit surprised.
“Don’t you like perfume?”
I simply replied, “It’s too strong. It’s giving me a headache.”
The silence seemed eerie and weird in the office.
After a few minutes, he sneered, “I’ll go grab something. Let’s leave together.”
He had just left when his phone that he left behind buzzed.
Seraphina’s name appeared on the screen.
[Aidan, that’s too many perfumes! I don’t think I’ll be able to finish them even by the time I’m 70.]
The next second, Seraphina sent a photo. Dozens of perfume bottles were displayed on the floor. Seraphina was sitting next to them. She was wearing a pair of black tights, and it was hard to look away.
After I went home, I walked into the bedroom and started to pack my belongings.
When Aidan finished showering and opened the closet, he realized that only a few of my clothes were left inside.
“Liora, I’m going to Italy for a business trip. Let me know your size, and I’ll get a few custom-made pieces for you.”
I straightaway rejected him. “There’s no need for that.”
I was going to leave in a few days.
He tossed the hangers onto the bed and glanced at me coldly. “I’m buying you presents. Don’t act up even if you don’t like it.”
I started to explain myself when Aidan looked at me scornfully.
“Liora, don’t think you can do this to get my attention.
“I hate fake women the most. You’re really crossing the line this time.”
He put on a coat and slammed the door behind him.
Over the ten years that we were together, Aidan would always slam the door whenever we fought.
I would always follow behind him and beg for his forgiveness.
But I was exhausted.
Aidan kept checking his phone, but I did not send him any text messages.
The next morning, I made breakfast for two as usual.
I finished my breakfast and was ready to leave when Aidan walked out of his study with a darkened expression.
His face was covered with stubble, and he had dark circles under his eyes. It seemed that he had not slept for the whole night.
He showed his phone to me and instructed me impatiently.
“Liora, you don’t have to go to the office today.
“I want you to finish decorating the event space exactly like this before 3 p.m..”
Chapter 3
I was only an obscure Omega that others bullied.
Aidan was the one who offered support and help to me when I was badly injured.
From that day onward, he had always stayed by my side and protected me.
It was until Seraphina appeared.
I saw the profile picture from the screenshot that he was showing me. I saw the same profile picture on his phone last night.
It was Seraphina’s profile picture.
I said nothing. Aidan also realized how ridiculous the situation was. He was just about to say something when he saw me nod.
“Alright, I’ll buy the materials.”
I was treating it as a chance for me to repay him.
From then on, I no longer owed him anything else.
I carried my bag and wanted to leave. Aidan looked at my back and felt a bit upset.
“Wait a minute.”
I held the door handle and did not turn around.
“Anything else?”
“Nothing. I’ve already transferred some money for you to purchase the materials.”
After I went out, I saw the huge sum of money and transferred it back to him.
It was only then I realized that out of the thousands of messages I sent Aidan, he only replied to a few.
His measly replies even included the transfer of funds and the screenshot of the event setup.
In the living room, Aidan heard the notification that I was transferring the money back to him. He felt a bit irritated as he tightened his grip around the phone.
It was 6 p.m. when I received a call from Aidan.
“Liora, where are you?”
I sat in the private room next to Aidan’s as I heard Aidan and Seraphina’s laughter. I did not answer his question.
“Do you have anything else to instruct me?”
He fell silent for a while. The next moment, he said gently, “Nothing, I just want to thank you for decorating this. She… I like it a lot.”
After a few seconds, he lowered his voice and said, “Thank you.”
Before I could answer, I heard Seraphina say, “Liora, I heard you personally decorated this event space.
“Thank you for putting so much effort into celebrating my birthday. You are great at decorating! If it weren’t for Aidan who said he wanted to surprise me, I wouldn’t have received such a great gift!”
Just when Seraphina was about to invite me to her birthday party, Aidan snatched her phone and immediately stopped me from coming.
“Liora, you don’t have to come.”
Immediately after, he ended the call.
Just when I was about to put the phone away, I heard my phone buzzing.
Aidan sent me his location and a text message. [Seraphina wants a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Go buy it and come over.]
After the call ended, I could hear heavy breathing from the private room next to me. I opened the door and left.
When I rushed to their private room, Aidan was cupping Seraphina’s face as he looked lovingly into her eyes.
He froze when he saw me in the private room. He glared at me angrily.
I knew that Seraphina was the one who had sent the location and text message.
I did not expose her. Instead, I came in with the champagne.
Aidan was yelling at me angrily.
“What are you doing here?”
“Aidan, I wanted a bottle of champagne for my birthday, so I used your phone to text Liora,” Seraphina said as she took the bottle of champagne and poured it into glasses. She then passed a glass to Aidan.
Aidan smiled lovingly and took the glass before they clinked glasses.
“I hope we can spend your birthday together every year.”
I saw the smile in his eyes. I took a document out of my bag and passed it to him.
“Aidan, there is a document that you need to sign.”
Aidan picked up the document and saw the word ‘agreement’ on the cover. He prepared to flip through the pages.
I immediately got nervous, but I kept my composure.
Simultaneously, Seraphina frowned and said, “Aidan, today is my birthday…”
Aidan immediately apologized. He quickly signed the papers and passed the document to me.
Seraphina leaned against the couch as she swirled her champagne glass. She cocked an eyebrow tauntingly at me.
In the past, I would have been hurt by it.
Instead, I remained calm.
Just as I was about to leave, Aidan suddenly grabbed my wrist.
He asked in annoyance, “Liora, did you specially come over just for this?”
Chapter 4
The next second, he suddenly retracted his hand and wiped it with tissue paper.
At the same time, Seraphina grabbed my wrist and carefully scrutinized the wooden bangle I was wearing.
“Liora, this wooden bangle looks very familiar…
“Ah, I recall seeing it in the office trash can two days ago…”
Aidan pulled his sleeve down and hid his empty wrist.
I pretended I did not see it. I smiled and said, “It’s only a wooden bangle. If you like it, I can give it to you.”
Seraphina did not accept it.
When I walked out of the private room, I took off the wooden bangle I had worn for ten years and tossed it into the trash can.
When I woke up the next morning, I saw Aidan smiling as he replied to some text messages.
When we had breakfast, he suddenly tapped on my phone. “Why did you change your phone password?”
“I didn’t like the previous one, so I changed it.”
All these years, I used his birthday as my password. I had never changed it.
But since I had decided to leave him, I should change the password too.
Aidan put down his cutlery. “Liora, didn’t you ask me to accompany you to the cinema before? Let’s go watch a movie later.”
When I heard that, I cocked an eyebrow in shock.
Aidan’s phone started to ring.
Aidan left with his phone without hesitation. I sat at the dining table all alone.
He did not appear again even when I was about to leave.
I wanted to text him when I heard a familiar female voice.
“Aidan, you’re amazing!”
Seraphina was standing next to Aidan and looked at him with admiration.
Aidan smiled and looked at her. His gaze was so gentle toward her.
They were holding hands tightly as they laughed and talked.
The sun shone on them, and they looked like a couple.
When Aidan turned around and saw me, the gentleness disappeared from his eyes. Instead, he looked at me indifferently.
“Ah, Liora. Why are you here?”
Seraphina glanced at me in disdain.
I was just about to answer when I heard something falling behind me.
A huge signboard suddenly toppled over. I did not manage to react as I froze.
At the same time, Aidan immediately grabbed Seraphina’s hand and dragged her aside.
After they were out of danger, Aidan only started to look at his surroundings. However, he did not manage to see me.
An hour later, after submitting my divorce papers, I took a plane to go overseas.
Before I boarded the plane, my phone kept buzzing and ringing.
I saw Aidan’s name.
I quickly typed a text message.
[Aidan, let’s breakup.]
The next second, I took out my SIM card, snapped it in half, and tossed it into the bin.
It was midnight. The cold air made me shiver.
I had just walked out of the airport when I saw Kieran waiting for me as he leaned against his car.
His nose was a little red from the cold. It seemed like he had waited for me for a long time.
Throughout the journey, Kieran seemed to sense I was not in the right place.
He kept glancing at me through the rearview mirror.
He helped me carry my luggage up the stairs.
Before he left, he said, “Liora, just call me if you need anything.”
I simply unpacked and lay on the couch tiredly.
I turned on my phone and saw a lot of notifications. I frowned.
They were all messages from my colleagues from the previous company.
I opened up the text messages from one of my closest colleagues.
She was surprised by my departure and asked in concern if there was something wrong and if I needed her help.
Just when I was about to reply to her, I received another text message.
It was a video.
[Liora, the video of Aidan and Seraphina has gone viral in the company…]
