I was Selena’s bed substitute.

Every day, I slept with her mate in her place.

Because Selena was too weak to endure Kane’s roughness, she forced me to sleep with him for her.

But when the three-year term was over, she still wanted to keep controlling me. So she tried to force me into a mate bond with a fool.

To survive, I begged Kane in bed to give me a status.

But he only said carelessly, “You’re Selena’s maid who came with her when she married me. If I make you my Concubine, wouldn’t that embarrass her?”

I closed my eyes in despair.

Everyone knew how deeply Kane loved Selena.

The next day, I went to the Luna and begged her to let me form a mate bond with the dying heir of the Alpha King, even if it meant I would be a widow for the rest of my life.

The Luna was deeply moved. “Good girl, have you really thought this through?”

I knocked my forehead to the floor.

“I will never regret it.”

From the corner of my eye, I saw Kane and Selena’s faces turn deathly pale.

Kane came to Selena’s room again.

After a short round of teasing, the lights in the room went out.

Selena walked out, and I pushed the door open and went in.

The moment I entered, Kane pulled me into his arms.

He lowered his head and gently smelled my scent.

“Your scent still smells better.”

Werewolves had sharp noses.

Every night, I took medicine to make myself smell like Selena.

Before I could answer, he picked me up and took me hard for the entire night.

After Kane fell asleep, I quietly slipped away and went to another room to report to Selena.

I had to tell Selena clearly what positions Kane and I had used last night, what words we had said, and then, under Selena’s hateful stare, I would be brutally punished by the servants at her side.

All the scars were on my arms, so no one would ever see them.

After Selena finished venting her anger, she would lie back beside Kane.

And I would endure the pain and continue serving as a maid during the day.

But this time, Kane, who usually slept very deeply, woke up.

He lifted a strand of Selena’s long hair and joked,

“Where did you go just now? Don’t tell me someone swapped places with you for a while.”

When I heard that, my heart jumped.

A chill ran through my whole body.

But Selena reacted quickly.

She immediately threw herself into Kane’s arms and acted spoiled.

“Then smell me. My scent hasn’t changed.”

I let out a silent breath of relief and quietly left.
