Chapter 3

Outside, the chat had exploded.

Bullet comments scrolled rapidly across the screen:

"This newbie has a death wish! The double-headed werewolf won't show any mercy!"

"Playing with death like this, I bet she'll be splattered in two seconds!"

"So arrogant, maybe she has a life-saving artifact?"

I had no life-saving artifact, only my timid nature.

I wanted to immediately drop to my knees and beg for my life.

But a hand shoved me towards the specter.

"Sister Alice, I believe in you! I'm supporting you from behind!"

My steps faltered, and I slipped, sliding directly towards the werewolf.

Instinctively, I reached out to steady myself, grabbing onto an unknown object.

It was slick, and I felt a faint *thump-thump* against my palm.

A horrifying thought flashed through my mind – a heart.

Without thinking, I wound up my arm and hurled the 'heart' at the glass.

The glass shattered, mixing with the heart, forming a black and red glass heart.

The green liquid from the hallway seeped through the cracks into the meeting room, sizzling as it corroded the heart.

The double-headed werewolf suddenly split apart, becoming two terrified heads, huddled together.

The left head cried:

"It's all your fault for exposing our secret!"

The right head retorted:

"It's this woman! She doesn't play by the rules!"

My brain was on the verge of crashing.

*Inside, I was thinking: I don't know your secret. Winning might just be fate.*

But my mouth snapped:

"Now, go get me a glass of water! Your new manager is giving orders!"

The bullet comments instantly erupted.

"The newbie has a cheat! A killer move right off the bat!"

"Her methods are wild! I'm betting she's the winner!"

"The newbie's bold and fearless now, acting arrogant, but the ending will surely be tragic!"

I realized that the glass heart was what controlled the double-headed werewolf.

My hands trembling, I carefully tried to pick it up.

A system notification sounded:

"Player detected to have triggered side quest: 'The Untouchable Intern.' Reward: 'The Manager's Fragile Heart.'"
