Chapter 3
Children have always been Charles' concern.
He found it troublesome, but he had no choice but to do without it. After all, his business empire still needed a legitimate heir.
Charles is a typical rich second generation.
He was spoiled by his family since he was young, and is good at smoking, fighting, and racing.
It was not until something went wrong and his family settled the matter that he turned over a new leaf and took over the family business.
But Charles also has a younger brother born to his stepmother, who is ten years younger than him and will soon be able to stand on his own.
That’s right, the two of them are like water and fire, and they are bound to fight to the death.
Charles' father favors his youngest son and is always strict with his eldest son.
As luck would have it, several major partners withdrew their investments at this time.
Charles was so overwhelmed that he was busy until late at night and could only come back occasionally.
When Charles' father saw that his career was in trouble, he intended to let his youngest son gradually take over the company.
He argued for this for a long time before his father finally gave in.
He can have the company, but Charles must have an heir first.
After all, he is already in his thirties and still has no successor, which makes people wonder if Charles has some hidden illness.
If this is true, the company will naturally be inherited by the younger brother. After Charles dies, the younger brother will inherit it anyway.
I had a miscarriage a year ago.
And Zoe, who had just been hit on the head by a wine bottle by me, had a miscarriage out of fright.
God is not on Charles' side.
I almost applauded.
I thought Charles would have to stay with Zoe in the hospital for a long time, but he called me soon.
"Come to the hospital."
His tone was so cold that it seemed to be spilling out of the other end of the line.
I put on my makeup carefully and went to the ward in high heels, but the heavy medical record book that hit me in the face made me go black.
"Apologize."
Charles stood tall in front of the bed, his eyes frighteningly cold.
Zoe, whose face was so pale that it looked transparent, was leaning against the bed, a bright smile shining in her eyes.
This isn't the first time I've met Zoe.
Before I smashed her bottle, and after I knew Charles had a wife, I hid in the corner many times and watched her like a voyeur.
She liked to wear off-white sweaters and gently took Charles' suit jacket.
She likes rose-scented perfume, which is light and elegant. When Charles holds me in his arms at night, the rich rose scent surrounds me.
She likes to do some handicrafts, and Charles wears a red rope she weaved on his wrist.
There are traces of her everywhere on Charles, and this woman reveals her edge without making a sound.
I tried to ignore it, but it got worse.
Especially when Charles was standing beside her as well.
I covered my stomach which was hit by the medical record book and met Charles' warning eyes.
...can't resist.
I'm not sure I can break up with Charles right now, so I can only swallow my anger and apologize to Zoe.
"I'm sorry, Miss Zoe. I was wrong."
Hearing that I gave in, Charles breathed a sigh of relief. He turned around and held Zoe's hand, his face full of cautious tenderness.
"I was wrong. You should take good care of yourself. I will end things with her and we will live a good life from now on."
A very faint smile forced itself onto Zoe's pale face.
Like a small white flower swaying in the wind.
I rolled my eyes, but she caught it immediately.
"Charles, can you let her out?"
Charles obeyed her every word, and he didn't know where her charm came from.
"Go out... Take care of the company's business. Don't bother me unless it's important."
Charles' cell phone was thrown into my arms. I rubbed my stomach, stood up, and limped out of the ward.
The moment I left, I turned back and waved my phone at Zoe.
She raised her head from Charles' arms, her eyes narrowed.
He quietly glanced at me.
The corners of my mouth curled up.
——The plan was successful.
