Chapter 4

"Lydia?"

Frederick sounded shocked.

The surprise on his face quickly turned to irritation.

He didn't even notice my messy clothes, just rubbed his temples like I was a headache:

"Lydia, what are you doing there?"

"Aren't you supposed to be home enjoying your day off?"

I met his eyes steadily.

"What do you think?"

Frederick glanced at the event director and staff behind me, lowering his voice:

"Quit causing problems. Just do what Jade says and apologize. We'll talk about this when I get home tonight."

Those words made everyone freeze—not just me, but the staff too.

Jade puffed up with pride, adding fuel to the fire:

"Frederick, she was so mean earlier! The director only talked back because she told him to!"

Frederick immediately cooed at Jade through the screen:

"Jade's harmless, she was just trying to help."

"Just apologize. Don't make this harder than it has to be."

I looked at him and laughed.

"Frederick, you want me to apologize? Seems you've forgotten who you're married to. Be here in five minutes, or I'll make you and your company regret it."

I didn't wait for his response.

I ended the call.

Without hesitation, I pulled out my phone.

I called my assistant.

"Bring my marriage certificate to Frederick's office. And have our lawyer draw up divorce papers immediately."
