When My Bodyguard Became Her Billionaire
Chapter 1
My once-downtrodden bodyguard was getting married.
But the whole city wasn't focused on his wedding; they were buzzing about me, his notoriously arrogant ex-employer.
Ten years ago, I paid a million dollars to rescue him from his creditors who were on the verge of killing him.
I kept him by my side, ordering him around as I pleased.
Everyone pitied Liam, saying he'd be stuck with a she-devil like me for life.
But a year ago, I suddenly set him free, telling him to go as far away as possible and never look back.
A year later, he reappeared as a newly minted billionaire investor, his arm linked with the beautiful childhood friend he always spoke of.
The media swarmed him with questions:
"Mr. Liam, what price did you pay to escape the clutches of that she-devil?"
Liam paused, then smiled.
"Perhaps she had a change of heart. I don't really remember."
The crowd buzzed with speculation, and one brave reporter dared to approach me for an interview.
I painstakingly applied enough makeup to look presentable.
I raised my phone, connected with the reporter, and feigned nonchalance:
"Congratulations on your marriage, Liam. Glad to finally get rid of a good-for-nothing like you."
"I sent you fifty thousand as a wedding gift. Consider it payment for your ten years of youth."
Liam's face instantly darkened. "I don't need it. Don't insult me with your dirty money!"
The call abruptly ended. I let out a bitter laugh and shook my head.
What Liam didn't know was that his "dirty money" was my last inheritance.
