When My Fake Marriage Fell Apart
Chapter 4
Before I cried myself to sleep last night, I'd already requested time off.
Today I went to the hospital for a checkup.
The doctor didn't look up, typing on the keyboard while asking: "Married or unmarried?"
My heart stung. I opened my mouth: "Unmarried..."
The doctor continued mechanically: "Let me examine you."
After the ultrasound, the doctor's expression turned serious. "Your hormone levels are very unstable. You need to rest and avoid stress."
I nodded, but that night, I was woken by a sharp cramp in my lower abdomen.
When I turned on the light, I saw blood.
Panic flooded me. I called an ambulance.
In the emergency room, the doctor told me I had miscarried.
I lay on the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling, tears silently soaking the pillow.
The baby was gone. I didn't even have to make a choice.
The next day, the hospital said I needed a minor procedure to complete the miscarriage. A family member had to accompany me.
I didn't want to tell anyone, so I found a temporary job online.
The person was waiting downstairs at the agreed time.
The moment I stepped out the building door, I was stunned.
Felix was leaning against the car door, holding a little "Escort Service" sign, grinning at me.
"Good morning, client."
