Husband's First Love Framed Me? I Sent Her to Jail Instead
Chapter 3
"It wasn't me! Why should I confess?"
I yelled, gritting my teeth against the pain.
Ryan, my own husband, slapped me across the face.
"Maya, what has gotten into you?"
"When you do something wrong, you admit it! Do you think you're still some childish brat?"
I suppressed my rage and continued to explain, "I told you it wasn't me! You're trying so hard to frame me, you two must have something to hide, don't you?"
Chloe feigned another kick, aiming viciously at my waist.
"Maya, with all the evidence against you, you're still trying to argue!"
"People like you don't deserve the protection of the law. You should be executed on the spot!"
The other reporters immediately turned most of their cameras towards Chloe.
Chloe's words clearly resonated with them.
Someone like me, who would seek revenge on society and kill a pregnant woman, shouldn't be subject to legal proceedings; I should be executed immediately!
The crowd around us grew increasingly incensed.
"I say we execute this menace right here, right now!"
"If she's just sentenced, it'll probably be life in prison! That's two lives! How can she get off so lightly?"
Just then, another man with bloodshot eyes approached from a distance, clutching a small knife.
The surrounding citizens and reporters flinched when they saw the knife, quickly backing away from the man.
"Maya, you deserve to die! Give me back my wife! Give me back my child!"
With that, he raised the knife, aiming for my chest.
This man was David, the pregnant woman's husband. His long-awaited baby was about to be born, and now both his child and his beloved wife were dead because of me.
He had only one thought: a life for a life. He absolutely would not let me live.
I was pinned to the spot, cold sweat beading on my temples.
Reborn, was I still unable to change my tragic fate?
I strained with all my might, almost giving up.
Just then, a police baton whipped out swiftly, and a young officer knocked the knife from David's hand.
"What do you think you're doing? Back away!"
My husband, Ryan, and his ex, Chloe, both took a step back. But the victim's family members instantly lunged and tackled me to the ground.
"Officer, help me!"
Ryan sighed dramatically. "Maya, the police are here now. Just confess."
Chloe shouted from behind, "The police are here to arrest you! Are you still going to deny it?"
The officer frowned. "What's going on, Maya? You just got out a little while ago. Are you causing trouble again?"
"It's her! She's the murderer who hit and killed my wife yesterday! Two lives gone! Please, give me justice!"
At that moment, David, the pregnant woman's husband, suddenly screamed hysterically.
"That's right! She's monstrous! We demand she be shot!"
Others chimed in, but the police looked confused.
"Yesterday? Maya has been in our station for the past seven days, hasn't she?"
"What? How could she be at the station?!"
Chloe sensed something was wrong. She quickly ducked into the crowd, her voice shrill.
"Officer, are you trying to protect this murderer?"
Ryan also reacted. "Exactly! I'm her husband, and I can testify that Maya did this!"
With everyone chiming in, all the cameras and microphones were shoved in front of the officer who had just intervened.
The duty officer, seeing the commotion, couldn't help but frown and take a step back.
My husband, Ryan, continued to shriek, "Officer, you haven't been bribed by Maya, have you?"
"Maya always throws her money around to get what she wants! Are you going to ignore the law's justice too?!"
His outburst further inflamed the crowd's emotions.
The two victim's family members pressed down on me even harder, as if they wanted to tear me limb from limb.
The officer's face darkened. "Don't talk nonsense! We uphold the law fairly! If you don't believe me, you can check the station's records!"
He moved to have someone retrieve the records. Seeing the crowd's agitation waver, Ryan and Chloe exchanged a glance.
Ryan suddenly shouted, "We have more evidence!"
My heart sank. Ryan glared at me viciously. "Maya, do you think bribing the police means we're helpless against you? Take a good look. Who is this?"
Ryan stepped aside, and an old man, trembling, walked out from behind him.
He came before me and, with a look of righteous indignation, pointed at me. "It was her! She was the monstrous one who killed them!"
My gaze sharpened. I stared at the man in disbelief!
"Dad?"
