Husband's First Love Framed Me? I Sent Her to Jail Instead

Chapter 2

3,511 words

A week later, I was released from the station.

I stepped out into the bright morning sun, taking a deep, cleansing breath.

This time, I'd spent the entire week locked up. There was no way the events of my past life could have happened, right?

But just as I walked out, someone grabbed my arm, their eyes bloodshot, and started screaming.

"This monster! She deliberately ran over my pregnant daughter!"

A swarm of reporters was already waiting outside the station. They shoved microphones into my face, one after another.

"Maya, you murderer! Are you here at the station to turn yourself in?"

The photographers accompanying them aimed their cameras at me, the flashing lights making it hard to keep my eyes open.

Passersby, drawn by the commotion, stopped. When they recognized me, they started pointing and whispering.

"Look, isn't that Maya, the woman who ran over a pregnant woman and then fled?"

"She's a menace to society! Two lives lost! She should be put down!"

I looked at the aggressive crowd, my brow furrowed.

What was going on? I'd been inside the station for the past seven days!

"You're wrong! How could I possibly drive a car and hit a pregnant woman?"

The victim's relative, still gripping my arm, became even more agitated. If I hadn't been stronger, his fist would have landed on my face.

One reporter shoved his phone right in front of me.

I stared at the video on the screen, my eyes wide with horror.

The dashcam footage showed me behind the wheel, a twisted smile plastered on my face, aiming straight for the pregnant woman on the sidewalk, and slamming the accelerator.

It was my face in the video, laughing hysterically as I hit the pregnant woman!

A sickeningly cheerful voice, unmistakably mine, echoed, "Oops, my bad!"

"Who told you to be so unlucky?"

Then, my husband, Ryan, appeared. He yanked me out of the driver's seat.

"Maya, what in God's name are you doing? How could you do something so stupid and hateful?"

In the video, I violently pushed Ryan away, then drove off, and the dashcam footage ended there.

My face turned ashen. This was exactly how it happened in my previous life!

But I'd spent seven days locked up in the police station. How could this still be happening?

"Still trying to explain? Isn't this explanation enough?!"

The victim's relative, his veins throbbing on his forehead, was regaining strength. My arm began to tremble.

The eyes of the surrounding onlookers burned with fury.

"It's confirmed! It's this monster! There's no mistake!"

"Hitting an eight-month pregnant woman with a car? Is she even human?"

"I saw it! She hit her once, then drove over her multiple times!"

"Oh my God, that poor woman might have survived even after a miscarriage, but this monster ran her over so many times she died on the spot! She deserves to die!"

Sweat beaded on my forehead. I rushed to explain, "I've been in the police station for seven days! How could I have done something like this?"

The victim's relative lunged, almost head-butting me. "The person in this video is you! If it's not you, then who is it?"

My forehead ached. I quickly continued, "Chloe did it! She's my husband's ex-girlfriend! She's the one who killed the pregnant woman..."

"Maya, that's enough! Do you think hiding in the police station makes you innocent?" My husband, Ryan, had reached me and was shouting fiercely.

My eyes widened, and a sudden sharp pain shot through my waist!

It was Chloe, Ryan's ex-girlfriend, who had just kicked me.

"Maya, how long are you going to keep denying it?"
