My Husband Was Only Allergic to the Peaches I Gave Him, So I got divorced

Chapter 3

3,665 words

"Tomorrow. The county clerk's office. I'll see you there!"

Leo's face went ashen in an instant.

"Fine! Divorce is what you want, isn't it? Let's see how you survive once you leave me."

"You've lived off me for five years. I'm freezing your cards right now. From here on out, you can fend for yourself!"

With that, Leo pulled out his phone and made a call, freezing every card in my name.

I didn't bother with him. I turned on my heel and headed for the door.

But the moment I reached it, a waiter stopped me.

"Ma'am, you poured out ten juices earlier and haven't settled the bill. Will that be cash or card?"

I looked at the card reader in his hand, and it clicked into place.

Leo watched me with a sneer.

"Weren't you so tough a second ago? Since you're set on divorcing me, don't count on spending a single cent of mine. You poured that juice yourself, so you can pay for it yourself!"

He'd frozen my cards, certain I couldn't produce the money, so he'd landed on this way to force me to back down in front of everyone.

June looked at me with a mocking smile of her own.

"Ms. Henson, the juice at a place like this runs two-eighty a glass. You poured out ten, so that's two thousand eight hundred. You don't have a cent on you right now, do you?"

"Looks like you'll just have to wash dishes in the back to work it off!"

I clenched my fists so tight my nails bit into my palms.

"Juice at two-eighty a glass still beats that free peach of yours!"

Something seemed to occur to June, and her expression turned cold as she looked at me.

"Ms. Henson, you'd better apologize to Leo right now. A man as good as him doesn't come around twice!"

I let out a cold huff.

"You like trash. I don't!"

At my words, Leo's face darkened at once, and he turned to the waiter.

"Take her to wash the dishes."

"Millicent, I'll be waiting for the day you regret this!"

I looked at him and gave a soft laugh.

"Then you'll be waiting a long time!"

Because the one who was going to regret it was him.

By the time I came out of the kitchen, my hands were nearly raw from the water.

I stumbled out of the hotel on unsteady feet, and just as I was about to leave, I saw Leo's driver walking toward me.

He looked at me with a jeering smirk.

"Millicent, Mr. Harding says since the two of you are getting divorced, everything you're wearing was bought by him. Take it off and give it back to him now!"

I lifted my eyes to the driver in disbelief, teeth clenched hard.

Leo knew perfectly well I'd worn nothing but a black evening gown today, and he actually wanted me to strip in public.

He was dead set on putting me in my place.

Seeing that I didn't react, the driver smirked at me.

"A housewife who lives off a man, and she's dumb enough to want a divorce over one glass of juice. Now you know how hard life gets once you leave the man, don't you?"

I ignored his taunts, gritted my teeth, and reached back to pull down the gown's zipper.

The moment he saw it, the driver opened his phone and started a livestream, aiming the camera straight at me.

"Everybody, come look at this! This woman is throwing a fit to divorce her husband, all because he drank one glass of juice. What a drama queen!"

The viewer count in the stream shot up the instant he spoke, and the netizens behind the comments piled on with their mockery.

"Demanding a divorce over one glass of juice, that's got to be the first in all of history!"

"Really thinks she's a princess, like the whole world owes her, and now the man's done waiting on her."

"Stripping in public? How is that any different from a stripper?"

I clenched my teeth and peeled the dress off my body, inch by inch.
