Chapter 4

Thankfully I was wearing a slip underneath, so I wasn't left fully exposed on camera.

Only after I'd stepped out of the gown did Leo climb slowly out of the car.

He hurried to pull off his own coat and draped it over my shoulders.

"Sweetheart, no matter what happens, you're still my wife. The moment you want to come back, I'll be right here waiting for you."

I lifted my eyes to that hypocritical face of his and threw the gown straight at it.

"Leo, you truly disgust me."

With that, I walked away.

I hadn't gotten far when a Mercedes came speeding up behind me and pulled to a smooth stop at my side.

Leo and June sat in the back, watching me with cold faces.

"Millicent, just apologize to me and June right now, and I promise to let bygones be bygones and take you back!"

June chimed in right after.

"Leo's already landed the ten-million-dollar order from Skyline Group. His net worth is about to multiply several times over. Soon you won't even be good enough to reach for him."

I looked at Leo and let out a mocking laugh.

"Leo, if I remember correctly, you haven't actually signed the contract with Skyline Group yet, have you?"

"I hope you can still manage a smile tomorrow."

That one line turned his face ashen. He glared at me, malice in his eyes.

"Millicent, since you don't know what's good for you, don't blame me for tossing aside whatever's left between us as husband and wife!"

"You want a divorce? Fine, we'll settle it in court. You can look forward to walking away with nothing!"

With that, he hit the gas and the Mercedes tore off.

The moment Leo was gone, I walked straight to the Maybach parked under the streetlight.

The instant I got in, my assistant handed me a tablet.

I opened the surveillance footage on it right away.

In the nursing room across from the banquet hall, June was straddling Leo, her clothes hiked all the way up.

"Leo, does your peach taste good?"

Watching the footage, I couldn't hold back the churning in my stomach any longer. I grabbed the trash can and threw up.

My assistant looked at me, his expression grave.

"Ms. Henson, I've had marketing cancel the signing with Leo's company. Once they get the news tomorrow morning, they'll surely come rushing to Skyline Group."

My gaze darkened.

"I'll be waiting at Skyline for them to come begging me."

Back then, Leo had won me over with what seemed like real devotion. For the sake of his male pride, I gave up everything and became the woman standing behind him.

I even poured all my connections and resources into paving the way for him, and what I got in return was betrayal.

That night I returned to my own estate, worth hundreds of millions.

I'd barely settled in to rest when my phone rang.

It was my assistant.

"Ms. Henson, something's happened!"

"Leo not only livestreamed everything from tonight across the internet, he maliciously edited the video too. He's claiming you have no shame or decency, that you stripped in public to seduce a man!"

My heart sank, and I quickly pulled up the latest news.

There was my name, sitting high on the trending list.

Click into any random link and you could see the video of me undressing in front of the driver.

Leo had even had someone secretly photograph me getting into my assistant's car, and now the whole internet was calling me a slut.

"A woman like this is just trash. Out on the street she'll throw herself at any man she sees!"

"You could see how much she enjoyed it in the livestream. That look on her face said everything. She's cheap to the bone!"

"A woman like this probably cheated on Leo ages ago. And to think he loved her so much. All that devotion, wasted on a dog!"

I was about to shut off my phone when countless messages suddenly came flooding in.
